The Electric Mobility Act (EmoG)
The Electric Mobility Act offers incentives to promote the expansion of e-mobility in Germany.
The Electric Mobility Act (EmoG) is a legal regulation in Germany that aims to promote electric mobility and drive forward the expansion of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The law was introduced in 2015 and offers various legal incentives and simplifications for electric vehicles in road traffic.
The Electric Mobility Act grants these privileges
One of the central measures of the EmoG is the facilitation of parking for electric cars. Local authorities have the option of allowing electric vehicles to park in public parking lots free of charge or at reduced rates. This is intended to motivate electric drivers to switch to environmentally friendly vehicles.
Another important aspect of the law concerns the use of bus lanes by electric vehicles. Under certain conditions, electric vehicles will be allowed to use bus lanes, which can improve traffic flow and shorten journey times.
The EmoG also stipulates that electric vehicles are exempt from certain traffic restrictions in low emission zones. This allows electric drivers to drive freely even in areas with restricted access.
