DC charging: Electrify your location now

Written by e-mobilio | Jun 24, 2025 3:23:37 PM

The German government is funding non-public fast-charging stations for commercial companies.

| Unfortunately, the funding can no longer be applied for. Nevertheless, secure your fast-charging solutions now at e-mobilio.|

The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) supports companies in setting up non-public fast-charging infrastructure with a funding program. After the funding expired for the time being at the end of November 2023, the BMDV is now continuing the program and has provided a further 150 million euros for this purpose. In addition to charging points for electric cars, charging points specifically for trucks are also eligible for funding on a larger scale for the first time. This was previously only possible in combination with the purchase of a vehicle. The government is thus offering companies a valuable incentive to advance the electrification of their operations.

Those who have already received their funding notification can start electrifying their business. We offer comprehensive advice and you can also find the right fast-charging infrastructure in our store.

Background knowledge: DC charger

DC charging stations for electric cars enable fast and efficient charging. In contrast to AC charging stations, so-called normal charging stations, where the charged current must first be converted by the on-board charger installed in the vehicle, DC charging stations supply the direct current directly. This significantly shortens charging times.

The funding is primarily aimed at ...

  • Craft and commercial enterprises
  • Fleet users, including transport and logistics companies, parcel services, car rental and car sharing providers and care services

Funding is available for both commercial companies and companies with public participation.

The funding program is supported by the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure and applications are processed by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).

Have you received your funding decision?

Then it's now time to set up the fast-charging infrastructure in your company. You've come to the right place!

In our store you will find suitable fast charging solutions for your company.

This is promoted

The BMDV promotes commercially used fast charging points with a charging capacity of at least 50 kW as well as the required grid connection.

Eligible for funding are

  • Investments for the fast charging infrastructure
  • Costs for technical equipment (e.g. electric storage units)
  • Expenses for the grid connection
  • Installation costs for electrical lines and connections incl. civil engineering

Not eligible for funding:

  • Costs for charging solutions where charging with alternating current (AC) is possible
  • Expenses for third-party planning services
  • Personnel costs
  • Leasing rates or rental expenses for charging infrastructure

Important!

The electricity required for the charging processes must come entirely from renewable energy sources.

The purchase and installation of the fast-charging points must take place within 18 months of receipt of the approval notice. However, the order may only be placed after approval has been granted.

The fast-charging points must be installed in Germany and must remain the property of the company for at least two years after commissioning.

Combination with other subsidies is not permitted.

The funding rate is:

  • a maximum of 40% for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
  • for large companies (JV) maximum 20

The eligible expenditure per charging point is limited to a maximum amount depending on the respective DC charging capacity:

  • 50-149 kW: 14,000 euros (SMEs) or 7,000 euros (JVs)
  • > 150 kW: 30,000 euros (SMEs) or 15,000 euros (general contractors)

The funding amount per application is limited to 5 million euros, regardless of the number of installed fast-charging points.

Applications from affiliated companies may not exceed a total funding amount of 30 million euros.

What other subsidies are available?

In addition to the KfW funding for complete systems, there are a number of other funding options and grants, e.g. theCO2 bonus for GHG quotas, various tax breaks such as exemption from vehicle tax or concessions on company car tax.
